ASHM/SSHC Clinical Education Sessions

Clinical Education Sessions are run in collaboration between ASHM and Sydney Sexual Health Centre (SSHC). The sessions provide an update on important emerging developments in HIV and STIs, discuss the applicability of results from a journal article to patient population, and give opportunities for clinicians to integrate the latest evidence on a range of clinical topics into diagnosis and management strategies in their clinical settings. The sessions are also an opportunity for HIV Prescribers to earn HIV CPD points.

Clinical Education Sessions are run every second Wednesday and generally made up of two 50-minute sessions: Journal Clubs and Clinical Education Seminars.

  • The Journal Club includes updates presented by counsellors, registrars, and nurses, providing evidence-based commentaries on specified topics. The Journal Club is open to everyone working in the HIV, STI, BBV, and sexual and reproductive health fields, inclusive of clinicians and non-clinicians.
  • The Clinical Education Seminar is run directly after Journal Club. These sessions are presented by physicians and specialists and are targeted at sexual health clinicians.

Sessions are delivered virtually via Zoom online webinar.
