ASHM recognises the vital role that community health sector organisations play in the testing, diagnosis, treatment and care of those at risk of and living with HIV, viral hepatitis and STIs for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) priority populations in Australia. We collaborate with key partners and stakeholders across the sector to support this work in two key areas:
ASHM offers a range of face-to-face education courses focusing on viral hepatitis, HIV and sexual Health for Multicultural Health Workers, nurses, general practitioners and allied health workers.
We are able to tailor specific courses to your local context and audience, such as these examples:
ASHM is available to assist all health care sector workers to strengthen staff and service capacity to effectively prevent, test for and manage viral hepatitis, HIV and sexual transmissible infections within CALD communities. Please contact us for more information.
In 2018, ASHM released the ALL GOOD website project in consultation with a wide range of representatives from multicultural health, community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and individuals. It was funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health as part of their National BBV Strategies providing the policy framework for national, state and territory governments; and community and professional organisations to respond to HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, STIs and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander BBV and STIs.
ALL GOOD focuses on key information on BBVs and STIs and provides tools and referral pathways to testing and treatment. Information is provided in 17 different languages, including English, in both text and spoken word recordings.
