Collaboration for Health in PNG

The Collaboration for Health in Papua New Guinea (CHPNG) is a partnership that aims to build the local capacity of the health workers and the local communities of PNG to support HIV services. Since 2003, ASHM in partnership with the PNG NDoH, PNGSHS and CCHS, have delivered training and mentoring to health workers under CHPNG in 7 provinces across PNG.

This support had an initial focus of international clinical mentors going to PNG and providing mentoring in the clinic. The support has evolved over the life of the funding to include the provision of education, clinical mentor training and broader capacity building for CCHS facilities and health workers. There is now a cadre of local PNG Master clinical mentors who are providing the mentoring in clinical facilities. These mentors promote sustained and effective delivery of quality services for STI management and across the HIV continuum of care.
