Our Approach
ASHM Global Programs provide leadership in health workforce development for blood-borne viruses and sexually transmissible infections.
Our work encompasses training and mentoring, policy and guideline development, linkages and knowledge exchange, and monitoring, evaluation, research and learning to strengthen HIV, sexual reproductive health and rights and viral hepatitis service delivery in the Asia and Pacific region and beyond.
We support accessible services for all including but not limited to people living with HIV and viral hepatitis, people of diverse genders and sexuality, people living with disabilities, women and infants through person-centred care and primary health care.
Where We Work and Our Impact
Our Strategy and Effectiveness Framework 2020-2024 outlines our approach to achieving our vision of eliminating HIV, viral hepatitis, and sexually transmissible infections as public health threats.
The framework includes a detailed description of our strategic objectives, performance indicators, and action plans, as well as the key elements of its approach to effective implementation, including partnership and collaboration, knowledge exchange, capacity building, and policy and guideline development. The framework aims to guide our activities and ensure our contributions to the global health response are strategic, impactful, and sustainable.
Our programs focused on capacity strengthening in key areas such as HIV, sexual and reproductive health, and viral hepatitis in Asia and the Pacific for over 20 years. Through our work, we have reached over 360,000 people with information, testing, and treatment for HIV and viral hepatitis, trained over 10,000 healthcare workers, and contributed to policy and programmatic changes at national and regional levels.
Additionally, we continued to prioritize local ownership, sustainability, and community engagement in all our global programs, promoting lasting change and improved health outcomes for all. Read our latest annual report for more information.

As a member of the Australian Council for International Development, we are accredited by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), ensuring our systems, policies, and processes meet the highest standards. ASHM receives support through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP).
