Course Summary
Synopsis
Delegates will learn from practices and localities that are achieving success in treating people with hepatitis C in a range of primary care and priority settings. Registration is free. Scholarships are available for interested GPs to attend the forum and, subsequently, the 11th Australasian Viral Hepatitis Conference.

Event Description

More than 30,400 Australians were cured of hepatitis C in the nine months following the introduction of direct acting antiviral (DAA) treatments onto the PBS on 1 March 2016. 1 The proportion of individuals being prescribed DAA treatment by General Practitioners (GPs) has dramatically increased from 8% in March 2016 to 39% in June 2017. 2

Hepatitis C elimination by 2030 will require sustained DAA uptake, at around 20,000 people per year. To ensure treatment rates are sustained and to engage harder to reach populations, it is important to maintain and broaden the community prescriber base, ensuring treatment is accessible in a range of primary care settings including (but not limited to) General Practice, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health services, alcohol and other drug services, mental health services, and correctional settings.

Download the course flyer

Make sure you consider this forum before you book your conference travel!

Registrations
Registration cancellations and amendments must be notified in writing to ASHM. Cancellations received before 5 August 2018 will not incur a cancellation fee. Cancellations received in writing after 5 August 2018 will incur a $70 per day cancellation fee. This fee may be waived in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of ASHM.
As an alternative to cancellation, your registration may be transferred to another person without incurring any penalty. ASHM must be advised of the transfer in writing. Please email the name, position, phone and email address of the new delegate to education@ashm.org.au.

Registrations close Sunday, 5th August 2018.

References
1.
