The program provides initial training, ongoing support and continuing professional development (CPD) activities for general practitioners prescribing Highly Specialised Drugs for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B in all states and territories across Australia. From 1 July 2015, accredited prescribers are able to initiate treatment and the medications can be dispensed in the community.​ 

Victorian HIV and Hepatitis Integrated Training And Learning (VHHITAL), in partnership with ASHM, North West Melbourne PHN (NWMPHN), Alfred Health, and the Doherty Institute, provides training for Victorian GPs in hepatitis B medicine. For further information about the VHHITAL program, please email Allison Burgess or call (03) 8547 9192.
