This DVD has been produced for the community and healthcare workforces, aiming to help them become familiar with what it is like to live with hepatitis B.
The younger a person is when they get hepatitis B, the higher the risk of developing liver damage and liver cancer as an adult. The majority of the estimated 218,000 people living with hepatitis B in Australia were born overseas and got hepatitis B as babies or in childhood. People living with hepatitis B need regular check-ups with their doctor and there is effective treatment available if needed.
The personal stories related aim to increase awareness and understanding of hepatitis B, reinforce understanding of management of hepatitis B, and reduce stigma and discrimination.
