Welcome to the Guidelines for the use of Antiretroviral Agents in HIV-1-Infected Adults and Adolescents.

This Australian Commentary to the USA Guidelines for the use of Antiretroviral Agents in HIV-1 Infected Adults and Adolescents has been prepared by the Australian Antiretroviral Guidelines Panel and the Australasian Society for HIV Medicine. Every care has been taken in its compilation.

The Australian Commentary to the USA Guidelines is intended to be used as a guide only and not as an authoritative statement of every conceivable step or circumstance which could be expected to manifest itself in clinical management.

In Australia, authorisation to prescribe antiretroviral drugs is restricted to appropriately trained and certified practitioners. The Australian Commentary to the USA Guidelines is not a self-help guide and should only be used in the Australian context.

Appropriately trained and certified medical practitioners should use this information as a guide to the use of Antiretroviral Agents in HIV-1 Infected Adults and Adolescents on the basis of clinical findings, and not as a complete or authoritative statement of such use.
