The Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing has released guidelines for the management of people with HIV who place others at risk of HIV infection.

The Guidelines have been developed by the Blood Borne Virus and Sexually Transmissible Infections Sub-Committee (BBVSS) of the Australian Population Health Development Principal Committee (APHDPC), to inform, support and harmonise approaches by Australia’s States and Territories.

The guidelines provide a management framework and consider issues such as confidentiality and inter-jurisdictional cooperation.

Over the next six months ASHM will undertake a number of activities addressing this issue including developing a legal monograph which will be supported by a training package, factsheets and workshops.
