Clinical Educators' Symposium

Convened by the Australasian Society for HIV Medicine in affiliation with IAS 2007
Taking advantage of the opportunity afforded by the location of the IAS 2007 Conference in Sydney, ASHM hosted a one day symposium for those involved in clinical education provision and support programs for medical practitioners, clinical educators, guidelines developers, program providers and other health care workers involved in the HIV field.
The symposium attracted international attendance with 46 participants, and provided a forum through which the following ideas and experiences were presented, discussed and debated:
- Translating research into practice and using technology to support this
- Processing the voluminous information available to practitioners
- Examining existent mechanisms for accreditation and the ownership of processes and standards
- Development and use of guidelines
- Various support mechanisms available to clinicians in the field
