The American Society for Microbiology is seeking laboratory procurement specialists who specialize in the procurement of TB diagnostic equipment, supplies and reagents in order to build TB laboratory capacity in resource-poor countries, especially Sub-Saharan Africa. Individual will be working with in-country field staff and ASM consultants to determine equipment/consumable needs and requirements; identify appropriate vendor or supplier; negotiate pricing, contracts, and reagent rentals; manage shipment into country while complying with customs regulations; and assisting with installation. Specific equipment/consumables needed may include those for TB solid and liquid culture and drug susceptibility testing, identification, and line probe assays. Support equipment may include biosafety cabinets, refrigerators, freezers, incubators, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Expertise in international procurement, including customs requirements
· Experience working with suppliers/vendors
· Background in procurement processing
· Familiarity with clinical microbiology diagnostics
