This page contains information about ASHM Seminar in Laboratory Development.

A Seminar in Laboratory Development has been held in conjunction with ASHM Annual Conference since 2003.

The Seminar is facilitated by directors from the National Reference Serology Laboratory and the NSW State Reference Laboratory who are involved in external quality assessment for various HIV, HBV and HCV testing laboratories in South East Asia and the Western Pacific.

The Seminar:

  • Provides participants with an update on current technologies for HIV testing
  • Reviews the selection and use of appropriate technologies in resource poor settings
  • Maintains laboratory safety and maximises quality assurance
  • Transfers information and train the trainer skills

Participants have attended from Cambodia, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Laos, The Maldives, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
