HLTIN301A Comply with infection control policies and procedures in health work
Purpose of course
The purpose of this course is to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to comply with infection control policies and procedures. The course is designed for workers such as allied health workers, Indigenous health workers and practice or enrolled nurses to develop and apply their skills in infection control particularly in relation to blood-borne viruses. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit. This unit is a core unit for a number of Health Training Package qualifications and can be used as credit towards these qualifications should the participant wish to undertake further study.
Course components
This course consists of a pre-reading component and an interactive one day workshop and the following learning areas:

Standard and additional precautions

Identifying and responding to infection risks

Personal hygiene and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Limiting contamination
-
Managing waste
-
Environmental surface cleaning
Participants will be assessed through their participation in the training day, a take home multiple choice test and a workplace assessment.
