Papua New Guinea Sexual Health Society
In Papua New Guinea ASHM's primary partner is the PNG Sexual Health Society (PNG SHS) Established in 2006, the PNG SHS is a member organisation of the PNG Medical Association. In 2008 a secretariat was appointed with support from the AusAID Sanapwantaim Project.
The SHS, with ASHM participation, conducts short courses in HIV treatment and management for clinicians and other healthcare professionals in PNG. The society also hosts a one-day HIV clinical update as part of the annual PNG Medical Symposium.
ASHM and the SHS are in the process of developing a work plan that will identify collaborative activities in support of the national HIV strategy.
