This practical manual, produced in collaboration with The Cancer Council NSW, will provide primary care practitioners with an overview of current hepatitis B knowledge in Australia - a field which is constantly changing and evolving.
General practitioners and other primary care professionals play a critical role in controlling the impact of hepatitis B in the general population, through testing and vaccinating people at potential risk, as well as identifying those who may benefit from monitoring and treatment. Whilst childhood vaccination plays an important role in preventing new infections, prevalence of chronic hepatitis B infection in Australia continues to increase, predominantly due to the high rate of hepatitis B infection amongst immigrants from endemic countries.
The resource includes factsheets for patients living with chronic infection, as well as contact details for useful organisations and resources.

This DVD has been produced for the community and health workforces. The stories on this DVD can be used to become familiar with what it is like to live with hepatitis C.
Hepatitis C is one of the most commonly reported diseases in Australia. There have been, and continue to be, improvements in treatments, although the number of people commencing therapy remains low. The stigma and discrimination associated with hepatitis C creates significant barriers to individuals accessing education, care and support and treatment services. It is hoped the personal stories related here will increase awareness and understanding of hepatitis C, dealing with symptoms, considering and managing treatment, and stigma and discrimination.

This resource was specifically developed for the Hepatitis C Public Health Promotion Pilot Program, managed by the Pharmacy Guild of Australia.
Pharmacy and hepatitis C is a resource for pharmacy staff which may assist them in providing information and support to people living with, or on treatment for, hepatitis C, with an aim to improve their health outcomes. As well as basic facts and resource information, it focuses on risk factors for transmission of hepatitis C, natural history and disease progression, treatment, side effects management, general management, harm minimisation, stigma and discrimination.
