Advertising and editorial policy
This page contains information about ASHM's advertising policy.
ASHM has a strict policy with regards to advertising and editorial, and the clear separation of both on its website. ASHM does not condone the use of paid advertorials or banner ads on its site. All editorial on the site is either written by staff of the Society or provided to ASHM by medical professionals as described on the page titled About ASHM.
Any advertising that does appear is for the purpose of promoting the Society's events and information, collaborative events, or displaying ASHM's principal sponsors.
ASHM sponsorship guidelines
Sponsorship is defined as a mutually beneficial relationship between the Society and one or more third parties, usually a commercial entity. Sponsorship means a contribution in money or kind, generally by the corporate sector in support of an activity. Sponsorship does not include the selling of advertising space, joint ventures, consultancies, gifts or donations which receive a simple acknowledgement.
The Society is an independent body, whose values, objectives, and directions are in no way determined by sponsorship.
The Society seeks sponsorship for the following activities:
- Publications - ASHM News, Journal Club and The Directory of Australasian HIV, hepatitis and related services.
- Scholarship program - to provide assistance to attend the ASHM Training Courses, the ASHM conference and to fund the Undergraduate and Junior Research Award Scheme.
The ASHM Annual Conference
The Society’s guidelines are in accordance with the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC). Sponsorship proposals will be made in writing offering clearly defined sponsorship packages showing benefits of sponsorship and the package cost. Sponsorships will be widely sought and be competitive. All sponsorship agreements based on the sponsorship packages offered shall be in writing and signed by the Executive Officer.
The Society ensures that it has sufficient resources available to enable the promised sponsor benefits to be delivered. Sponsorships will be transparent and offer no personal benefit to the Society’s staff.
