ASHM believes that PoCT is a valuable tool with the potential to play an important part in Australia's response to HIV by increasing the number of high risk individuals who will be screened.

ASHM is a peak coordinating body and has been heavily involved in the coordination of the development and proposed roll-out of HIV PoCT at the national level. ASHM believes that PoCT is a valuable tool with the potential to play an important part in Australia's response to HIV by increasing the number of high risk individuals who will be screened. ASHM acknowledges the importance of ensuring that the workforce is appropriately and consistently trained in HIV PoCT to ensure test accuracy and is developing a curriculum to meet this need. ASHM further acknowledges the important role that laboratories have to play in supporting HIV PoCT sites and is working to facilitate the strengthening of these relationships.
