HIV GP Management Plan Audit and Shared Care Training

In Australia, 50% of new HIV diagnoses are made in general practice and people living with HIV have an almost normal life expectancy with treatment. With the development of an HIV GP Management Plan (GPMP) HIV can now be managed as a chronic condition in general practice. The aim of this audit and shared care training is to address some of the major issues in the management of HIV as a long-term condition and improve communication between general practitioners, HIV specialists and patients.

Completion of the HIV GPMP Audit and Shared Care Training attracts

    • 40 RACGP audit points
    • 6 ASHM HIV points

    Objectives

On completion of the HIV GPMP Audit and Shared Care Training GPs will be able to:

    • Define HIV shared care in the context of general practice
    • Confidently manage HIV and associated co-morbidities from a chronic disease perspective
    • Develop a comprehensive HIV GPMP based on national guidelines
    • Increase effectiveness of shared HIV care with specialist colleagues
