HIV affects over 35 million people worldwide, and over 6,000 people in Victoria are living with HIV.
People living with HIV can face a wide range of complex health and social problems requiring skilled and sensitive care from nurses in the community. They come from many different communities and RDNS cares for all groups including gay men, refugees and asylum seekers, women and children.
This 2-day course, presented by the RDNS HIV Team CNCs will:
- Provide a basic understanding of HIV, epidemiology, transmission, the disease process, infection prevention, and current treatments
- Introduce care and support services available to people with HIV
- Welcome HIV positive speakers and the Victorian AIDS Council
- Provide opportunities to interact, discuss and gain understanding of the collaborative model of care and partnerships within the HIV sector.
