For World Cancer Day 2010 (Thursday 4 February) the Australasian Society for HIV Medicine (ASHM) has joined forces with the Cancer Council NSW and Hepatitis Australia to support the international theme of 'Joining Forces to Raise Awareness of Cancer-Causing Viruses'. The joint press release is available here.
ASHM is pleased to make available a new Hepatitis B fact sheet for people newly diagnosed. The fact sheet is available for order and has been translated into the following 5 community languages: Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Indonesian and Vietnamese (available at www.ashm.org.au/publications).
ASHM currently is developing an Introductory Course on Hepatitis B for General Practitioners, to be piloted at various locations across NSW in 2010. This course provides an overview of the epidemiology, transmission, testing principles, management and treatment, natural history and treatment of hepatitis B. The course provides a discussion around priority groups relevant to the local Division of General Practice. Please check www.ashm.org.au/courses for updates on course locations.
