This webinar on hepatitis C will focus on early diagnosis, management and treatment of hepatitis C in the context of new treatments which offer cure to most people

This webinar will provide GPs with the knowledge to engage their patients in care, perform investigations to assess for advanced liver disease and prescribe new hepatitis C treatments in consultation with, or without a specialist.

Primary care practitioners in WA can help to improve the health outcomes of people living with hepatitis C and reduce a patient’s risk of developing advanced liver disease through early diagnosis, thorough evaluation and assessment of liver disease severity, appropriate management of co-morbidities and preparation for new treatments.

Learning objectives:

o Interpret test results and diagnose hepatitis C appropriately

o Ensure that people at risk of hepatitis C infection are regularly screened

o Manage and monitor people with chronic hepatitis C suitably, including lifestyle modifications as needed

o Assess for advanced liver disease, monitor for hepatocellular carcinoma and refer appropriately

o Describe new treatment guidelines and mechanisms for prescribing in consultation with, or without, a specialist.
