15-25% of those living with chronic hepatitis B will die from the complications of cirrhosis or from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) without appropriate treatment and care

This case-based education evening will cover a range of issues in hepatitis B, with a particular focus on managing your patients from a culturally and linguistically diverse background. We will cover latest advice in identifying and monitoring people with chronic hepatitis B, in order to support timely identification and prevention of cancer and liver disease, through the institution of effective treatment.

The learning outcomes of this course are:

- Discuss who should be tested and explain how to accurately interpret test results.

- Improve the outcome of patients through early diagnosis, follow up and appropriate management (including vaccination of contacts)

- Describe the intervention points throughout the natural history of HBV

- Identify the different treatment options available, and the need for lifelong monitoring, for people living with chronic HBV.

Conditions of registration:

Registration Cancellations: Registration cancellations and amendments must be notified in writing to ASHM. Cancellations received before 5pm Wednesday, 19 May 2017 will not incur a cancellation fee. Cancellations received after 5pm Wednesday, 19 May 2017 will incur a $70 per day cancellation fee. This fee may be waived in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of ASHM.

Substitutions: As an alternative to cancellation, your registration may be transferred to another person without incurring any penalty. ASHM must be advised of the transfer in writing. Please email the name, position, phone and email address of the new delegate to education@ashm.org.au.
