ASHM invites Primary Health Care Nurses whose patients have, or are at risk of, blood borne viruses (BBVs) and sexually transmissible infections (STIs) to enrol in this training, which involves a combination of online and face-to-face education.

This training session will enable you to increase your scope of practice in HIV and sexual health. The course provides you with the clinical skills, confidence and knowledge to expand your role in caring for the sexual health of your patients and community.

Target audience

• Primary health care nurses • Nurses in sexual health clinics

Aligned with the Sexual Health Nursing Competency Standards for Primary Health Care Nurses (2013), the course will provide you with the clinical skills, confidence and knowledge to expand your role in caring for the sexual health of your patients and community. In addition, there is a session focusing on methods to advocate for your expanded role within your workplace and resources to assist you to negotiate this process.

The workshop, coordinated by ASHM, has been developed through collaboration between the NSW STI Programs Unit, APNA and ASHHNA. This course has been endorsed by APNA and allows participants to claim 6 CPD hours.

This is a free course for NSW nurses. The cost for the course for non-NSW participants is $250 (ASHM members) or $280 (non-ASHM members). Priority to attend the course will be given to NSW nurses.

Conditions of registration:

Registration Cancellations:

Registration cancellations and amendments must be notified in writing to ASHM. Cancellations received before Fri 19 May 2017 will not incur a cancellation fee. Cancellations received in writing after Fri 19 May 2017 will incur a $100 per day cancellation fee. This fee may be waived in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of ASHM.

Substitutions:

As an alternative to cancellation, your registration may be transferred to another person without incurring any penalty. ASHM must be advised of the transfer in writing. Please email the name, position, phone and email address of the new delegate to education@ashm.org.au.
