Upon successful completion of this training and the associated case assessment, medical practitioners may apply for authority to prescribe section 100 drugs for the management of HIV in Australia.

Please note that the on-line Introduction to HIV Care for General Practitioners module is a pre-requisite for this course. Information and access details will be provided to participants upon registration.

Course Outline:

o Module 4 – Initiation of Antiretroviral Therapy: including principles of ARV therapy, drug classes and initiation of therapy.

o Module 5 – Monitoring the Patient on Therapy: including screening for other infections, frequency of monitoring, adherence and test variability.

o Module 6 – Toxicities and Adverse Events: including, toxicities associated with first-line regimens, co morbidities and long term adverse events.

o Module 7 – Special Scenario: including salvage therapy, opportunistic infections, mother to child transmission, and PEP.

o Module 8 – Clinical Skills Development: this module offers a choice of self-directed activities.

Conditions of registration:

Registration Cancellations:

Registration cancellations and amendments must be notified in writing to ASHM. Cancellations received before 6th March, 2017 will not incur a cancellation fee. Cancellations received in writing after 6th March, 2017 will incur a $70 per day cancellation fee. This fee may be waived in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of ASHM.

Substitutions:

As an alternative to cancellation, your registration may be transferred to another person without incurring any penalty. ASHM must be advised of the transfer in writing. Please email the name, position, phone and email address of the new delegate to education@ashm.org.au.
